What is AISHE?

The All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE) is an annual web-based data collection exercise initiated by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. Every institution of higher learning across the country is mandated to participate.

The survey captures comprehensive data covering students, teachers, infrastructure, finance, and examination results — enabling the government to monitor progress, formulate policy, and plan resource allocation for the higher education sector.

"The AISHE data is the backbone of evidence-based policy for higher education in India — covering 1,113 universities, 43,796 colleges, and 11,779 standalone institutions across the nation."

Crescent First Grade College For Women has been a consistent and timely participant in AISHE since its inception, reflecting our commitment to accountability, institutional transparency, and national educational development.

Common Questions

AISHE — Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. All higher educational institutions in India — universities, colleges, and standalone institutions — are mandated by the Ministry of Education to submit AISHE data annually. Non-submission can affect an institution's standing with regulatory bodies such as the UGC.
AISHE collects data on student enrolment (gender, category, programme-wise), teaching and non-teaching staff profiles, infrastructure (buildings, labs, libraries), examination results, financial details (fees, grants), and programmes offered. All data pertains to a specific academic year.
Institutional AISHE data at the individual college level is not publicly accessible for privacy reasons. However, aggregate state-level and national-level data is published in the annual AISHE report available at aishe.gov.in. Our institution publishes key statistics on this page for transparency.
Dr. Shahnaz Parveen, IQAC Coordinator and Assistant Professor, serves as the AISHE Nodal Officer. She can be reached at aishe@crescentcollege.edu.in for any AISHE-related queries or document requests.
AISHE data helps the government identify gaps in access to higher education, design targeted scholarship programmes (like the Post-Matric Scholarship for SC/ST/OBC students), and allocate resources to underserved regions. Accurate data directly benefits students from minority and marginalised communities.
Yes. NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) uses AISHE data as part of the Data Verification and Validation (DVV) process during accreditation. Institutions must ensure consistency between their AISHE submissions and NAAC self-study reports (SSR). Our IQAC maintains complete alignment between both.
